Mothica - Another High [Video]

McKenzie Ellis, aka Mothica, is honest about her story on her social media channels. Her new album Kissing Death summarizes the stories her fans probably already know. However, she also emphasizes a hopeful message: “When my thoughts get dark, I remind myself that we have an infinite amount of time to ‘not exist.’ For the small sliver I’m here, it’s important to soak up every second and make the most of it,” McKenzie says. Our Song Pick of the Day, “Another High,” is about the need to keep your

SONG PICK: MOTHICA - Lovetalk

Only two weeks ago, MOTHICA played Brooklyn’s new darling venue Elsewhere in front of a big crowd of fans. Together with her band, she performed three new songs that night, and while I liked them all, I can not even remember if I heard this stunner back then. “Lovetalk” is a sparkling gem of a pop song with an enchanting production and dark and melancholic undertones, brought together by MOTHICA’s unique and irresistible beautiful vocal delivery. Listen to “Lovetalk”, our Song Pick of the Da

PHOTOS: glamglare presents at The Delancey: Mothica // King Neptune // Ariah &

Despite all uncertainty these days, one thing is for sure: 2017 will be again a year of excellent music. At glamglare we were delighted to showcase some of it with a diverse lineup at our first concert of the year. Ariah & kicked off the event with an acoustic set. Her vocals are goosebumps-inducing and we are already looking forward to see her with a full band in the future. Next on was King Neptune a power rock five-piece from New York fronted by Ian Kenny. Closing out the set was Mothica,

PHOTOS: Mothica live at Union Pool

2017 may be the breakthrough year for Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Mothica: she just has released a new one-off collaboration with Icarus Moth, played a show at Brooklyn’s Union Pool and, from what we heard, the release of her second EP is around the corner as well. That is why we could not be happier that Mothica also plays our showcase next Thursday at The Delancey in Manhattan. Check out photos from her show at Union Pool: Follow Mothica on Face

SONG PICK: Mothica - Out Of It

Brooklyn DIY singer/producer Mothica is on the pursuit of the perfect mix between pop and experimental electronic music and with her new single “Out of It”, she shows how this elusive goal can be achieved. The song has a classic lyrics-equals-song-title sing-along chorus, but she also fills it with enough odd sounds – there is a piercing metal clang for example – to keep you on the edge until the last bar. Mothica is working on her second EP “Heavy Hearted” but has not yet announced a releas

Mothica plays first show ever at Palisades

It is exciting to have the opportunity to witness the first show of an artist who probably has a long career in front of her (if she wishes to have one). Mothica from Brooklyn took the stage at Palisades to sing a few songs that will (probably) make it on her debut EP in some form. Until the RP comes out, you can check out her many tracks and collaborations on her Soundcloud, like this one:
